This exclusive club of 29 grower Champagne houses is a real mark of exceptional quality vintages. A special club vintage will only be sold after two tests. Firstly, the flat wine is tested by a panel of producers’ peers, professional oenologists and wine makers in a blind tasting. If this first test is passed the wine is allowed to be aged in the unique Special Club bottles for a minimum of 3 years. Once the wine is deemed to be ready by the grower it is time for the second test. A second blind tasting, if the grower passes this test, the Champagne can be sold as a special club cuvee. If the Champagne fails to deliver on the clubs exacting standards all the bottles must be opened and emptied.
We love this vintage 2005, made from Charlier’s oldest vines and oak aged ahead of bottling. The nose of this champagne is enticing and captivating. Freshness and minerality are delivered with the extreme finesse by the Chardonnay grape and delicate hints of brioche and spiced notes persevere due to the delicate ageing. A smooth, elegant vintage with a subtle complexity, you will not be disappointed!
